As a California native born and raised on the American River in Sacramento, I've a fanatical enthusiasm for California history which led me on a quest to discover women’s contributions in building the West. The result is—She is California—which chronicles pioneering women who helped build California.
California pioneer women are also featured in my yet-to-be published debut novel—Prospects of a Woman. An excerpt won 1st place in the California Writer's Club short story contest and is published in the Fault Zone Shift Anthology. Two-time Governor General's award-winning author Douglas Glover says, " is a fascinating, complex, dark, and beautiful novel of women and sexuality on the frontier of the California gold strike days."
I started my career in the Silicon Valley writing about technology trends and innovations for newspapers, magazines, and Fortune 100 companies. I earned a B.A. from California Polytechnic State University and an MFA from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, and attended Hedgebrook and the Squaw Valley Writer's Workshop. I've worked as a lifeguard, ski instructor and radio disc jockey. A few of my other publications are listed on: wendyvoorsanger.net.
Is there a California woman that we should feature on SheisCalifornia? Let us know. We'll do our best to get back to you soon!
